After a rewarding career as a Ph.D. Synthetic Organic Chemist, I pursued an opportunity to combine my love of acoustic guitar music with my love of building. As a result, I’ve now been building guitars professionally for the past 15 years in my shop in Hamilton, NY. As in building molecules, building guitars takes a substantial amount of tenacity and grit. I like to think I obtained this trait as a result of being born and raised in Paterson, NJ.
My approach to guitar building is strongly influenced by my nature and experience as an experimental scientist. This a process of discovery and exploration that builds on the work of masters, such as Torres, Hauser, Martin and many others both past and present. As a result, my guitars are a reflection of my own personality and path of discovery. I have a holistic approach to building, recognizing the guitar is a complicated interdependent system, and that each guitar is built from unique natural materials. To this end my focus is to build guitars that are not only exceptionally expressive in tone but are a delight to play.
